A few pieces of interesting details about Marilyn Monroe. She had blue eyes and her naturally hair color was auburn which turned into a strawberry shade.  For films she turned into a blonde.  She was Born in Los Angeles in 1931 and passed away August 1962. Her real name was Norma Jeane Baker and later changed her name to Marilyn Monroe for her acting career. As I research her for this painting, I didn’t know Marilyn Monroe was Truman Capote’s first choice to play Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

I had the sketched and drawing done for this piece and hadn’t had a chance to start it till one night I couldn’t sleep.  I spent that night creating her, working through exhaustion, not contacts or glasses led to an expressive and vibrant painting.  This is one of my favorites because of the looseness that was achieved.

Marilyn has been created on Stonehenge Aqua watercolor paper 300lb Cold Press. Another piece that is inspired by Artist Carne Griffiths’ style, I again incorporated it into this piece

Original painting size 11″ X 15″

This is a mixed media piece where I used Brusho, fountain pen inks, tea, Vodka, and white colored pencil for a few highlights. The photo reference used is from Public Domain.
